I am a writer and researcher living in Oakland, California. My writing has been published at Outside Online, KQED, Motiv Running, and Trail Runner Magazine. Much of work focus on the culture, experience, and inner life of endurance athletics. But I see culture more broadly as a lens that provides otherwise unseen perspectives into the world around us. Check out my collected work.
I have crafted copy and content for outdoor firms, including Backcountry, GU Energy Labs, Salomon Running, Soar Running, and Ragnar Relays. I'm especially proud of a recent project celebrating GU's 25th anniversary, which wove company research, packaging copy, print media, and digital interactives into a single product rollout. Additionally, I write a weekly newsletter highlighting the best running, outdoor, and fitness content with focus on the San Francisco Bay Area. The newsletter often features interviews with local running notables. Here is a recent favorite issue.
I received my PhD in History at UC Berkeley in the spring of 2017. My academic research focused on the intersections of religion, science, and philosophy in late-seventeenth-century England. I studied history and philosophy for my BA at Furman University in South Carolina.
